Our take on the EveryYay Essentials Portable Canvas Dog Crate, Dark Grey

The EveryYay Essentials Portable Canvas Dog Crate is a soft-sided crate measuring 42 inches long, 27 inches wide and 26 inches high, sized for medium to large dogs. The canvas walls and folding frame make it a lighter, more portable alternative to a wire crate for travel, hotel stays and car trips. Its best new price is $59.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, with two stores listing it new. That is a low price for a crate this size, but the 3.7 out of 5 rating from 76 ratings suggests buyers have mixed experiences.

Questions and answers

Is this crate big enough for a large dog?
At 42 inches long, 27 wide and 26 high it fits many medium and large dogs, but measure your dog standing and lying down before buying. Buyers report some fit issues, so check the dimensions against your dog.
Can I use it for a puppy that chews?
Soft-sided crates are a poor match for chewers. The canvas and zippers can be damaged, and a determined puppy may push through. Use a wire or plastic crate for that stage.
Does it fold flat?
Yes. The frame collapses so the crate can be stored flat or carried, which is the main reason buyers choose it over a wire crate.
Is $59.99 a good price?
It is a low price for a 42-inch soft crate, and two stores list it new as of November 5, 2026. Compare both stores before buying, since soft crates this size often cost more.
Is it safe to leave a dog in it unattended?
Only for calm dogs. The soft sides give less protection and containment than wire or plastic, so it suits short trips and supervised use better than long unattended stays.
