Does it work in the US?

No, not directly. It has a 220V European plug, so you need a step-up converter and a plug adapter to use it on US 120V outlets.

How long until the wax starts flowing?

About one hour after switching it on, according to the specs. The wax needs that time to warm up and move.

Is it a real lava lamp or an LED imitation?

It is a wax lava lamp with an LED light source instead of a classic incandescent bulb. The wax still heats and flows, but LED output is cooler than a bulb.

It measures 39.5 cm tall and 11 cm wide, so it fits on a shelf, desk, or nightstand.

Three parts: the metal base, the glass bottle with wax, and the lid. Assembly takes seconds.
