Is the ECHOMAP UHD2 72cv worth it over the older 73cv?

The UHD2 adds built-in Wi-Fi for wireless updates and Navionics chart sharing, which the older 73cv lacks. If you don't need wireless features, the older unit can be cheaper, but the UHD2 is the better long-term buy.

What sonar does the included GT20-TM transducer give me?

It provides CHIRP traditional sonar plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning. That covers depth, fish arches and side structure without buying a second transducer.

Can I use my own charts?

Yes. The unit has one microSD slot that accepts cards up to 32 GB, so you can load Garmin Navionics or BlueChart g3 cards. A chart card is not included.

Is it waterproof enough for open boats?

It carries an IPX7 rating, meaning it survives temporary immersion. That is enough for rain, spray and washdowns on most boats.

When is the price lowest?

The best new price was $649.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, near the bottom of its recent $650 to $800 range. Deals tend to appear around boating-season clearance and holiday sales.
