Does this bed need a box spring?

No. The frame includes slats, so a mattress sits directly on the platform. A box spring is optional and would raise the mattress height.

What size mattress fits it?

It is a queen frame, so use a standard queen mattress, about 60 by 80 inches. The listing is frame only, so the mattress is bought separately.

How much weight can it hold?

Garvee rates the frame at 1,200 lb maximum. That covers the mattress plus the people on it, which is generous for a queen platform bed.

Is the headboard padded?

The headboard is listed as metal, while the frame sides are upholstered. Expect a firmer, more industrial headboard than a fully fabric-wrapped one.

How hard is assembly?

Plan for a couple of hours and two people. Platform beds with slats and a headboard have many bolts, and the engineered wood parts should be handled carefully.

When is the best time to buy it?

Budget furniture like this tends to drop during holiday sales and back-to-school events. Check the price history before buying so you know whether the current price is near its low.

Our take on the Garvee Upholstered Platform Bed Frame with Headboard

The Garvee Upholstered Platform Bed Frame is a queen-size bed with a metal headboard, upholstered sides, and a slatted base that supports a mattress without a box spring. It is built from engineered wood and rated to hold up to 1,200 lb. The frame-only design means the mattress and bedding are sold separately. It suits shoppers who want a padded, headboard-included platform bed at a budget price rather than a solid wood or storage bed.
