Is the Gorilla Grip expander worth it?

If your console cup holder is too small or too loose for a large tumbler or bottle, it is a cheap fix at $15.97 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026. If your factory holder already fits your drinks, it adds little.

What size bottles does it fit?

The adjustable arms open to hold containers about 2.8 to 5 inches in diameter and up to 12 inches tall. That covers most 32 to 40 oz tumblers and large water bottles.

Will it fit my car's cup holder?

It is designed for standard console cup holders in cars, trucks, boats and golf carts, and the oval base is 4.3 by 3.7 inches. Very shallow or unusually shaped wells may not hold it firmly.

Does it scratch the console?

No. A silicone coaster sits under the drink and EVA foam pads line the base, which is meant to prevent scratches and rattles.

Do I need tools to install it?

No. It drops into the cup holder and the arms adjust by hand, so it installs and comes out in seconds.

Our take on the Gorilla Grip Adjustable Expander

The Gorilla Grip Adjustable Expander is an ABS plastic insert that drops into a console cup holder and widens it with adjustable arms, so large bottles, tumblers and mugs sit steady. The arms open to fit containers roughly 2.8 to 5 inches across and up to 12 inches tall, and a silicone coaster plus EVA foam pads protect the console and cut rattle. It installs in seconds with no tools and suits trucks, cars, boats and golf carts. At $15.97 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores pricing it new.
