Questions and answers

Is the Mafate Speed 4 Lite good for beginners?: It suits runners with some trail experience. The low 4 mm drop and firm upper take getting used to, so new trail runners may prefer a more forgiving shoe.
How does it differ from the Mafate Speed 4?: The Lite version trims weight with a lighter upper while keeping the same cushioning and lugged outsole. It trades some upper comfort for less bulk.
Is it waterproof?: No. This is the non-Gore-Tex version, so it wets through in rain or stream crossings. Look for a Gore-Tex Mafate if you need waterproofing.
What drop does it have?: It has a 4 mm heel-to-toe drop, which is flatter than most Hoka road shoes.
Is $129 a good price?: It is the best new price among 4 stores as of November 7, 2026. Trail shoes at this level often list higher, so it is a reasonable buy if the fit works for you.
Does it fit true to size?: It runs normal width but many owners say it fits snug. Consider a half size up if you wear thick socks or have wide feet.
Where is the Hoka Mafate Speed 4 Lite Sneaker cheapest?: At Darveys, for $129.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Hoka Mafate Speed 4 Lite Sneaker?: Rated 3.1 out of 5 from 241 ratings.
