Is the HP 17-cn3003dx good for everyday use?

Yes for browsing, email, documents and streaming. The 8-core N305 and 256 GB SSD are fine for light multitasking, but it is not built for gaming or heavy editing.

Is the 1600x900 screen sharp enough?

It is usable but not sharp. At 17.3 inches, 1600x900 gives a low pixel density, so text and icons look softer than on a 1080p panel.

Can I upgrade the storage or memory?

The 256 GB SSD can typically be swapped for a larger drive, and DDR4 memory is upgradeable on this class of HP 17. Check the service manual before buying parts.

Does it have a backlit keyboard?

No. The keyboard includes a number pad but no backlight, so typing in dim rooms depends on room lighting.

What ports does it have?

USB-A, USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1), HDMI and a 1/8-inch headphone jack, plus Bluetooth. There is no memory card reader or optical drive.
