Is the EKTORP worth it at $799?

At $799 at ModeSens as of November 4, 2026, it is priced above IKEA's usual in-store figure for this sofa. It is worth it if you want washable covers and a deep seat; compare against buying direct from IKEA before committing.

Can I wash the EKTORP covers?

Yes. The polyester covers are removable and can be machine washed on a gentle cycle, which is the main reason families pick this sofa.

How does the EKTORP compare with the KIVIK?

The EKTORP has a more traditional look, lower arms and a slightly firmer pocket-spring seat. The KIVIK is wider, deeper and softer, and its covers are also removable.

What are the dimensions?

It is 228 cm wide, 95 cm deep and 83 cm high, with a 45 cm seat height. Measure your doorway and room before ordering, since the deep frame needs clearance.

Can I change the legs or cover?

Yes. The covers are sold separately and the legs can be swapped for replacement legs, which raise the sofa by about 2 to 3 inches.

When is the EKTORP cheapest?

IKEA typically discounts it during seasonal sofa sales. Track the price history here and buy when it drops below the $799 ModeSens listing.

Our take on the IKEA EKTORP 3-seat sofa

The EKTORP is IKEA's long-running three-seat sofa, built on a wood frame with pocket springs and foam in the seat cushions and wrapped in a removable polyester cover. It measures 228 cm wide, 95 cm deep and 83 cm high, with a 45 cm seat height and low, removable armrests. The deep seats and washable covers make it a practical family sofa rather than a design piece. The best new price is $799 at ModeSens as of November 4, 2026, the only new listing found.
