Is the INGATORP table solid wood?

The top and legs are solid wood, though IKEA uses different wood species across finishes. It is not a particleboard table with a printed foil, which is why it costs more than IKEA's laminate models.

How many people does it seat when extended?

The compact size seats two to four, and the extension adds room for two more. Check the extended length for your room before buying, since the leaves need clearance to swing out.

Does it fit a small dining room?

Yes. At 28 inches wide when closed it suits narrow rooms and apartments. Leave space around it for chairs and for the leaves to open.

Is it hard to assemble?

It takes an hour or two and two people are useful for flipping the top. Follow the steps in order; the extension hardware is the part people get wrong.

When is the best time to buy it?

IKEA discounts this table during its seasonal sales and in the IKEA Family member offers. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Our take on the IKEA INGATORP Extendable Table

The IKEA INGATORP is a Scandinavian-style wood dining table that extends to seat more guests, then shrinks back for everyday use. It stands 29 inches high at standard dining height and is 28 inches wide in its compact form. The drop-leaf extension design is the main draw: a small footprint most days, room for extra diners on holidays. It is a solid wood piece rather than a veneered budget table, so it weighs more and costs more than IKEA's basic laminate options.
