Our take on the IKEA RAST dresser

The IKEA RAST is a three-drawer dresser in solid pine, 124 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 68 cm tall, with about 108 liters of storage. It ships unfinished or lacquered depending on the version, so you can oil, wax, stain or paint it to match a room. It is small enough for a studio or a child's room, and it must be anchored to the wall with the included safety device. The best new price was $129.50 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Pros
  • Solid pine main parts, not particle board
  • Compact footprint for tight rooms
  • Easy to refinish: oil, wax, lacquer, stain or paint
  • Three drawers with roughly 108 liters of space
  • Simple, well-known assembly
Cons
  • Must be wall-anchored; tip-over risk if not secured
  • Back and drawer bottoms are fiberboard, not solid wood
  • Untreated wood needs sealing to resist stains and wear
  • Drawers pull out only 16.5 cm, so deep items are awkward
  • Fasteners for your wall type are not included
