Our take on the Kadyn Futon Sofa Bed 54 inch Adjustable Backrest Convertible Futon Sofa

The Kadyn Futon Sofa Bed is a 54-inch velvet convertible futon with a tufted back, a wood frame and an adjustable backrest that reclines into a sleeper. Its small footprint suits apartments, dorms and guest rooms where a full-size couch will not fit. The 46-inch seat depth is unusually deep for a 54-inch futon, so check your room before ordering. No current price was provided, so compare live store prices against its own price history before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Kadyn Futon Sofa Bed worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you need a compact velvet futon that reclines and occasionally sleeps a guest. With 3.2 out of 5 from 8 ratings, treat it as a budget buy and check the return policy before ordering.
How does it compare with a standard 70-inch futon?
It is about 16 inches shorter, so it seats two closely rather than three. The trade-off is a much smaller footprint for studios and dorms.
Does the backrest really recline flat for sleeping?
Yes, the backrest is adjustable and converts the sofa into a sleeper. Expect a firm surface, so a mattress topper helps for overnight guests.
What are the dimensions?
It is 54 inches long with a 46-inch seat depth and a 17-inch seat height. Measure your wall space first, because the deep seat makes it bulkier than the length suggests.
What is it made of?
A wood frame with velvet fabric upholstery and a tufted back, in solid black. Velvet shows pet hair and stains, so plan on regular brushing and spot cleaning.
When is the best time to buy it?
Futons usually drop during back-to-school sales and major holiday weekends. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is above or below its recent range.
