Our take on the KingSpec 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe Internal SSD

The KingSpec 1TB is a PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 2280 internal SSD rated at up to 4,900 MB/s sequential read. It is a budget-tier drive aimed at adding fast storage to a desktop or laptop with a free M.2 slot. At $155.99 at Newegg.com as of November 3, 2026, it is priced well above what 1TB Gen4 drives from established brands typically cost, so the value case is weak.

Questions and answers

Is the KingSpec 1TB SSD worth it at $155.99?
Probably not. That price is high for a 1TB Gen4 drive, and better-known brands usually sell 1TB Gen4 SSDs for less. Consider it only if you specifically want this drive.
Will it fit my laptop or desktop?
It uses the standard M.2 2280 form factor, so it fits most desktops and many laptops with a free M.2 slot. Check that your slot supports PCIe Gen4 or Gen3 NVMe, not just SATA M.2.
How fast is it really?
KingSpec rates sequential read at up to 4,900 MB/s, which is typical Gen4 territory. Real-world speed depends on your slot, thermals and workload, and no write speed is listed.
Does it come with a heatsink or cloning software?
No heatsink or software bundle is listed. Plan to use your motherboard's heatsink if you have one, and clone or reinstall Windows yourself.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price was $155.99 at Newegg.com as of November 3, 2026, from the only store listing it. Watch for sales around major shopping events.
