Is the Ktaxon 24-inch mountain bike worth it?

For light trail and neighborhood riding at a low price, yes. If you plan to ride rough trails often, a lighter bike with better components is worth the extra money.

What height rider does it fit?

Ktaxon lists a height range of 59 to 65 inches, so it suits many kids about 10 and up and shorter adults. Riders much taller than 65 inches will feel cramped.

How much assembly is required?

It ships unassembled. Expect to fit the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals, and to check brake and derailleur adjustment. A shop tune-up is a good idea if you are not comfortable doing it.

Is it good for adults?

Only for adults at the shorter end of the 59–65 inch range. The 24-inch wheels and steel frame make it a poor fit for taller or heavier-duty adult riding.

Does it have disc brakes?

Yes, it uses mechanical disc brakes. They work well when adjusted but need periodic cable tension checks.

When is the best time to buy it?

Budget bikes like this usually drop in price during end-of-season sales and around major shopping events. Check the price history on this page before buying.
