Is the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Gen 9 worth it?

It is a solid mainstream 15-inch laptop with a sharp 2.5K screen, 16 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD. At $1,469.99 at Adorama as of November 5, 2026 it is priced at the top of its range, so waiting for a lower price makes sense.

How does it compare with the previous generation?

The Gen 9 moves to a 15.3-inch 2560 x 1600 display and adds facial recognition. The chassis is still around 4.7 lb, so portability is similar.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

RAM is soldered and capped at 16 GB, so buy the configuration you need up front. The 1 TB SSD can be replaced, but check Lenovo's service manual before opening the case.

Is the 60Hz screen a problem?

For documents, browsing and video, 60Hz is fine and the 2560 x 1600 resolution is the bigger benefit. Gamers and fast-scroll users will notice the lack of a high-refresh panel.

What ports does it have?

It has USB-A, USB-C, HDMI and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so most accessories connect without an adapter.

Lenovo laptops typically drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. The current $1,469.99 at Adorama as of November 5, 2026 is near the top of its range, so a sale period is the better time to buy.
