Lifeproof Sterling Oak is a click-lock luxury vinyl plank in an 8.7 in. by 47.6 in. format, 7 mm thick, with a waterproof core and a classic oak look. It is rated for kitchens and bathrooms and even listed for outdoor use, which is unusual for vinyl plank. Pros
  • Click-lock edges need no adhesive
  • Waterproof core suits kitchens and bathrooms
  • 7 mm thickness feels more solid underfoot than thin 4–5 mm planks
  • Long 47.6 in. planks mean fewer seams
  • Rated for outdoor use, rare for vinyl plank
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is limited
  • 7 mm is mid-range; it will not match rigid 8 mm+ cores for stiffness
  • Long planks need a flat, level subfloor to avoid lipping at seams
  • Outdoor rating still depends on sun and freeze exposure; check the warranty terms

Questions and answers

Is Lifeproof Sterling Oak worth it?
At $33.90 at Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable pick for a waterproof click plank. Only one store lists it new, so compare against other Lifeproof colors before committing.
Can I install it over existing tile or concrete?
Yes, click-lock vinyl can float over most hard, flat surfaces, including tile and cured concrete. The subfloor must be level within the manufacturer's tolerance or seams will flex.
Is it really waterproof?
The plank core and surface are waterproof, so spills and bathroom moisture are fine. Water can still get under the floating floor at walls and edges, so leave expansion gaps and seal wet areas.
How many square feet does one carton cover?
Each plank is 8.7 in. by 47.6 in., about 2.87 sq ft. Check the carton's stated coverage before ordering and add 10% for cuts.
Can it go outdoors?
It is listed for outdoor use, but vinyl expands and fades in direct sun and freezes. Use it on covered patios and confirm the warranty covers exterior installation.
When is it cheapest?
Vinyl plank discounts cluster around holiday sales and flooring events. Track the price history here; with one seller, the listed price is the only new price to watch.
Where is the Lifeproof Sterling Oak 8.7 in. W x 47.6 in. L Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring cheapest?
