Our take on the Linda Li American Mahjong Set with Pearlized Tiles, 166 Tiles with 4 Racks and Pushers

The Linda Li American Mahjong Set is a 166-tile set built for American mahjong, which uses 152 tiles plus jokers and blanks. Tiles are thick 1/2-inch melamine with a pearlized finish, and the set includes four racks with pushers, dice, and 100 scoring chips. It packs into a cotton canvas case with a water-repellent lining and two shoulder straps. At $199.95 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of the typical range for a full-size pearlized set; cheaper melamine sets usually run well under $100, so you are paying for tile thickness and the case.

Questions and answers

Is this set worth $199.95?
If you play American mahjong regularly and want thick 1/2-inch tiles with a lined carrying case, the price is in line with premium pearlized sets. Casual players who play a few times a year can spend far less on a standard melamine set.
Does it have everything needed for American mahjong?
Yes. The 166 tiles cover the 152-tile American set plus jokers and blanks, and it includes four racks with pushers, dice and 100 chips. You only need a mat and a card for the current year's hands.
How do these tiles compare with standard 5/8-inch tiles?
These are 1/2 inch thick, which is thicker than many budget sets and easier to grip and stack. The trade-off is weight: a full 166-tile set is heavier to carry than thin-tile sets.
Will the tiles fit standard racks?
The tiles are 1-3/16 inches tall and 7/8 inch wide, close to standard American mahjong tile dimensions, so they should sit on most racks. The included racks are matched to the set.
Is the case good for travel?
The cotton exterior with water-repellent polyester lining and two shoulder straps is made for carrying to games. The cotton shell is not waterproof, so keep it out of rain.
When is it cheapest?
Only one store lists it new at $199.95 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no price competition to shop. Watch for seasonal sales at Amazon rather than expecting a lower price elsewhere.
Where is the Linda Li American Mahjong Set with Pearlized Tiles, 166 Tiles with 4 Racks and Pushers cheapest?
At Amazon, for $199.95, as of our latest check.
