Is the Lodge 12-inch skillet worth it?

Yes, if you want a cheap, durable pan for searing, frying and oven baking. At $29.38 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it costs little more than a mid-range nonstick pan and lasts far longer.

Is it better than the 10-inch Lodge?

The 12-inch gives a 10-inch cooking surface that fits four chicken thighs or a full cornbread. The 10-inch is lighter and easier to handle for one or two portions.

Does it work on induction and in the oven?

Yes. Cast iron is induction compatible, and the pan is oven safe to 550°F. Use mitts, since the handle and helper handle get hot.

How do I clean and season it?

Hand wash with hot water and a stiff brush, dry it on the stove, then rub in a thin layer of oil. It is not dishwasher safe. Re-season in the oven if the surface dulls.
