Our take on the Ludger 460 Lumen Outdoor LED Solar Motion Sensor Light

The Ludger 460 Lumen Outdoor LED Solar Motion Sensor Light is a cordless security light that charges by day and switches on when it detects movement. It throws 460 lumens of cool white light (6000K–7000K) across a 120-degree, 6–8 m detection zone, and a remote control lets you adjust settings without climbing a ladder. Dusk-to-dawn operation keeps it ready overnight, and the IP44 rating handles rain and splashes but not full water immersion. No price was provided for this listing, so check the current store price against its recent range before buying.

Pros
  • No wiring or electrician needed — solar panel and battery included
  • 460 lumens is bright enough for paths, gates and small yards
  • 120-degree sensor covers a wide approach at 6–8 m
  • Remote control adjusts brightness and modes
  • Dusk-to-dawn mode keeps it armed all night
Cons
  • IP44 only — not rated for heavy rain jets or submersion
  • Output depends on daily sun; weak winter sun means dimmer nights
  • Cool 6000K–7000K light is harsh for patios and seating areas
  • Motion-only means it stays dark until someone walks in

Questions and answers

Is 460 lumens bright enough for a driveway?
It is fine for a gate, path or small driveway where the light lands close to the sensor. For a long drive or a large dark yard, expect to need two units or a brighter mains-powered floodlight.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
Runtime depends on how often the sensor triggers and the brightness setting. Expect a handful of short activations per night to be fine after a sunny day; frequent triggers on the brightest setting will drain it faster.
Does it work in winter or on cloudy days?
It still works, but the panel charges less, so expect fewer activations and dimmer output. Mount the panel where it gets direct sun for most of the day.
Can I use it in heavy rain?
It is rated IP44, which covers rain and splashes but not jets of water or being submerged. Mount it under an eave or overhang if your area gets driving storms.
What's in the box?
Typically the light head with built-in solar panel, a mounting bracket and screws, and a remote control. Check the listing for the exact contents before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Solar security lights usually drop around spring and summer outdoor-season sales and Black Friday. Watch the price history rather than buying on the first discount.
