Are these bright enough to light stairs safely?

They give soft accent light, not strong illumination. They help mark step edges at night but are not a substitute for a porch light on dark stairs.

Do they stay on all night?

They run from a charged battery after dark. Runtime depends on how much sun the panel got; on cloudy days or shaded spots they may dim or shut off early.

Can I set them to one color?

This is the color-changing version, so the lights cycle through colors. If you want a fixed warm white, look for the white version of the same light.

How do I install them?

Each light has a mounting plate that screws into wood, fences or railings, or sticks on with adhesive. No wiring is needed, and the solar panel must face the sun.

They are rated for outdoor use and handle rain. Standing water or full submersion will still damage them, so mount them where water drains away.

When is the best time to buy?

Solar garden lighting usually drops in price in late fall and winter, outside the spring and summer gardening season. Watch the price history for a dip below the usual level.

Our take on the Mancra Solar Step Lights Outdoor, Solar Deck Lights Waterproof Outdoor Lighting for Patio Fence Stairs Post Railing Yard and Garden (Color Changing, 16 Pack)

The Mancra Solar Step Lights are a 16-pack of LED deck and step lights that charge from sunlight and need no wiring. This version cycles through colors rather than staying white, which suits accent lighting on stairs, fences and railings. Each light mounts flat with screws or adhesive, so installation is a screwdriver job. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.
