Are these strings good for a beginner?

Yes. Medium-gauge nickel roundwounds are a forgiving, versatile choice, and the low price makes them easy to try.

Do they fit a 5-string bass?

No. This is a standard four-string set. Five-string players need a set with a low B string.

Nickel-plated steel sounds warmer and feels smoother. Stainless steel is brighter and lasts longer but costs more.

For regular gigging, every four to six weeks keeps the tone fresh. Nickel strings dull gradually rather than dying suddenly.
