Our take on the Merax 5-Piece Expandable ABS Hardside Luggage Set with Duffel and Toiletry Bag

This is a five-piece ABS hardside set: a 20-inch carry-on, a 24-inch and a 28-inch checked case, plus a duffel and a toiletry bag, all in pink. The cases are expandable and roll on spinner wheels. ABS is the budget shell material: light and impact-resistant, but it scuffs and flexes more than polycarbonate. At $182.43 at Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Pros
  • Five pieces cover carry-on, checked and accessories in one purchase
  • Expandable zipper adds packing room on the checked cases
  • Spinner wheels make the larger cases easy to push through airports
  • ABS shell resists dents and wipes clean
  • Matching duffel and toiletry bag add flexibility for short trips
Cons
  • ABS scuffs and can crack under hard impact; it is not polycarbonate
  • Spinner wheels and telescoping handles are the parts most likely to fail on budget sets
  • Pink only, with no neutral color option
  • Duffel and toiletry bag are basic and not built for heavy use
  • No listed warranty details or TSA lock

Questions and answers

Is this set worth it?
At $182.43 for five pieces, it works out to about $36 per bag, which is low for hardside luggage. Expect budget-level wheels and zippers rather than years of heavy use.
Can the 20-inch case go in the overhead bin?
Yes. The 20-inch case is sized as a carry-on for most US airlines. Check your airline's limits if you fly carriers with smaller allowances.
How much extra room does the expandable zipper add?
Expansion typically adds about 2 inches of depth on each case, enough for a few extra layers or souvenirs. It does not turn a carry-on into a checked bag.
What is included in the 5-piece set?
A 20-inch carry-on, a 24-inch and a 28-inch checked case, a duffel bag and a toiletry bag. The duffel and toiletry bag are soft-sided accessories, not hardside.
Does the luggage have a TSA lock?
No TSA lock is listed for this set. Plan to use your own padlock or cable lock on the checked cases.
When is the best time to buy?
Luggage discounts cluster around Black Friday and pre-summer sales. At $182.43 from Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so watch for a drop before the holidays.
Where is the Merax 5-Piece Expandable ABS Hardside Luggage Set with Duffel and Toiletry Bag cheapest?
At Home Depot, for $182.43, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Merax 5-Piece Expandable ABS Hardside Luggage Set with Duffel and Toiletry Bag?
Rated 4.2 out of 5 from 9 ratings.
