Our take on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 Copilot+ PC Snapdragon X Elite

The Surface Laptop 7 is Microsoft's Copilot+ PC built on the Snapdragon X Elite chip, with a 13.8-inch 120Hz touchscreen, facial recognition sign-in and an 18-hour battery rating in a 3 lb body. This configuration pairs 64 GB of RAM with a 1 TB SSD, which is far more memory than most laptops in this class. The best new price was $1,200 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with three stores listing it new.

Best forHeavy multitaskers running many apps and browser tabsStudents and commuters who want light weight and long battery lifeWindows users who want a touchscreen and face sign-inBuyers who want a premium build without a discrete GPU
Pros
  • 64 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD leave little need for upgrades
  • 18-hour battery rating and 3 lb weight suit all-day carrying
  • 120Hz touchscreen makes scrolling and touch input feel smooth
  • Facial recognition sign-in with a backlit keyboard
  • HDMI port means fewer dongles for projectors and monitors
Cons
  • Snapdragon X Elite runs on Arm, so some Windows apps need emulation or don't run
  • No discrete GPU, so gaming and heavy 3D work are limited
  • 1 GHz base clock figure understates real speed but invites confusion
  • Fewer ports than some rivals; check what you need before buying

Questions and answers

Is the Surface Laptop 7 worth it over the Laptop 6?
Yes if battery life and the 120Hz touchscreen matter to you; the Snapdragon X Elite is far more efficient than the older Intel chips. The trade-off is Arm compatibility, so check your key apps first.
Does the Snapdragon X Elite run all Windows software?
Most mainstream apps run natively or through Windows emulation, but some games and specialized tools, especially those needing certain drivers, do not work well. Check the maker of any must-have app before buying.
How long does the battery really last?
Microsoft rates it at 18 hours, and owners commonly report a full workday of mixed use on a charge. Heavy video editing or gaming will cut that sharply.
Is 64 GB of RAM overkill?
For most buyers, yes. It helps with large virtual machines, huge spreadsheets and many open apps at once, but 16 or 32 GB covers typical work and school use.
What comes in the box?
The laptop and its power supply. It does not include a mouse, stylus or sleeve.
When is it cheapest?
Surface laptops see the deepest discounts around back-to-school and Black Friday. The best new price was $1,200 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, so compare against that before buying.
Where is the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 Copilot+ PC Snapdragon X Elite cheapest?
