Is the Milwaukee M12 Compact Impact Wrench worth it?

It is worth it if you already own M12 batteries and need power in tight spots. If you are starting fresh, budget for batteries and a charger on top of the $168.99 Amazon price as of November 4, 2026.

Does it come with a battery?

No. The listing shows zero batteries included, so you need a 12V M12 lithium-ion pack and charger separately.

Will it remove lug nuts?

It can handle many passenger-car lug nuts at 250 ft-lb breakaway, but heavily torqued or rusted fasteners may need a larger 18V wrench.

What size sockets does it use?

It has a 3/8-inch square drive with a friction ring, so it takes standard 3/8-inch impact sockets.

How does it compare to an 18V impact wrench?

It is smaller and lighter at 2 lbs but delivers less torque. Choose it for access and portability, and an 18V model for maximum fastening power.

Our take on the Milwaukee Compact Impact Wrench

The Milwaukee M12 Compact Impact Wrench is a 12V brushless 3/8-inch square-drive impact wrench rated at 250 ft-lb of breakaway torque, with 2,700 RPM, 3,200 IPM and a 4-mode drive control. At 2 lbs and under 5 inches long, it fits where full-size 18V wrenches won't. The best new price is $168.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, and 5 stores list it new. Note that no battery or charger is included, so M12 batteries are an extra cost unless you already own the platform.
