Our take on the Morimoto Elite HID System H11 35W/50W XB Ballast

The Morimoto Elite HID System is a plug-and-play H11 xenon headlight kit built around the XB ballast and Philips quartz glass capsules. It runs 35W ballasts at 14.0V DC with a claimed 2800-3500 lumens at 5000K, a neutral white that reads cleaner than stock halogen. The kit includes the ballasts, bulbs and an HD relay harness with triple-sealed relay packs, and it is aimed at off-road use on ATVs, snowmobiles and vehicles. The best new price is $263.20 at Morimoto Lighting as of November 5, 2026, the only new listing tracked.

Questions and answers

Is the Morimoto Elite HID kit worth it over a cheap HID kit?
The Elite kit costs more but includes an HD relay harness, sealed relay packs and Philips capsules. Cheaper kits often skip the harness and use lower-grade bulbs, which shortens life and can cause flicker.
Can I use this kit on public roads?
No. It is listed for off-road use on ATVs, snowmobiles and vehicles, and HID retrofits in halogen housings are not street legal in the US. Use it off-road or in housings designed for HID.
How long do the bulbs and ballasts last?
Morimoto rates bulb life at about 2,500 hours, roughly 3 to 5 years of typical use. Ballasts generally outlast bulbs, but either can fail and should be replaced as a pair for even output.
What is in the box?
You get two XB ballasts, two H11 HID capsules, an HD relay wiring harness with AMP connectors and mounting hardware. Bulbs are 5000K and the ballasts are 35W.
