Our take on the Onix Evoke Premier

The Onix Evoke Premier is a fiberglass-faced pickleball paddle with a polypropylene honeycomb core, an 8.0-inch wide face and a listed weight of 7.8 oz. That combination puts it in the midweight, wide-body class: a forgiving sweet spot with enough mass behind the ball for drives and blocks. Its best new price is $159.99 at JCPenney as of November 8, 2026, and only one store currently lists it new, so there is no cheaper new option to compare against.

Pros
  • 8.0-inch wide face gives a large sweet spot
  • Fiberglass face adds pop on drives and serves
  • 7.8 oz midweight balances power and control
  • Polypropylene core is a proven, durable construction
  • Wide body suits doubles play and defensive blocking
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is limited
  • Fiberglass faces tend to lose texture and spin faster than carbon
  • 7.8 oz is slow at the kitchen line for some players
  • No cheaper new listing to fall back on at $159.99

Questions and answers

Is the Onix Evoke Premier worth $159.99?
At $159.99 at JCPenney as of November 8, 2026, it sits in the upper-middle of paddle pricing. You are paying for a wide fiberglass face and a proven polypropylene core, not for premium carbon spin tech. If you want a forgiving midweight paddle and don't need maximum spin, it is reasonable.
How does it compare with carbon-faced paddles?
Fiberglass gives more immediate pop and a softer feel, while carbon faces usually offer more spin and a stiffer response. The Evoke Premier's 8.0-inch width favors forgiveness over the thinner, faster shapes some carbon paddles use.
Is 7.8 oz too heavy?
It is a midweight, not a heavyweight. Most players handle it fine for drives and blocks, but if you play a fast kitchen-line game, a lighter paddle may feel quicker in hand.
What is the grip and handle like?
The listing does not specify grip size or handle length. Check the retailer's spec sheet before buying if grip circumference matters to you.
What comes in the box?
A single paddle is the standard contents. The listing does not mention a cover or extra grip, so do not count on either.
When is it cheapest?
Only one store lists it new at $159.99 as of November 8, 2026, so there is no lower new price to wait for right now. Watch for seasonal sales at that store.
Where is the Onix Evoke Premier cheapest?
At JCPenney, for $159.99, as of our latest check.
