Will the Oregon S55 fit my chainsaw?

It fits saws that take a 16-inch bar, 3/8-inch low-profile pitch and 55 drive links, typically up to 42 cc. Check your bar's stamped specs or your old chain's drive link count before buying.

Is the S55 worth it over a full-chisel chain?

If you want a safer, smoother chain for occasional yard work, yes. A full-chisel chain cuts faster in clean wood but kicks back more and costs more.

Use a 5/32-inch round file and the file guide angle marked on the chain, typically 30 degrees. File the cutters from the inside out and keep the depth gauges at the recommended height.

Chain prices move little, but the best new price was $15.03 at Max Warehouse as of November 4, 2026. Compare across the three stores listing it before buying.
