Our take on the PawHut Outdoor 2-Story Weatherproof Feral Cat Shelter with Asphalt Roof

The PawHut Outdoor 2-Story Cat Shelter is a wooden two-level house for cats that live outdoors, with an asphalt roof and a raised floor to keep the interior dry. It stands 33.5 inches tall, giving cats an upper and lower compartment plus a small front porch. At $75.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.

Best forFeral or stray cats needing year-round shelterPorches and backyards with a covered spotOwners who want a wooden house over a plastic binMulti-cat households wanting two levels
Pros
  • Two levels give cats a place to retreat and a place to watch
  • Asphalt roof sheds rain better than a flat wooden top
  • Raised floor and feet keep the base off wet ground
  • Wood construction insulates better than thin plastic
  • Assembles from flat panels with basic tools
Cons
  • No door flap, so wind-driven rain can reach the opening
  • Wood needs resealing to hold up over several winters
  • Small interior suits one cat per level, not large breeds
  • Not heated; add straw or a pad for hard freezes

Questions and answers

Is it worth $75.99?
At $75.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable price for a wooden two-story shelter. Plastic bins cost less but insulate poorly and crack in cold weather.
Will it keep cats warm in winter?
It blocks wind and rain but has no insulation or heat. Line the lower level with straw or a heated pad for freezing nights.
How many cats fit?
Two average cats, one per level, fit comfortably. Large breeds will find each compartment tight.
Does it need assembly?
Yes. It ships as flat wooden panels with hardware and assembles with a screwdriver in about an hour.
Where should I put it?
Place it on a covered porch or against a wall, facing away from prevailing wind. The asphalt roof handles rain, but the open doorway does not.
When is it cheapest?
Outdoor cat houses usually drop in late fall and around spring clearance. Target is the only new listing at $75.99 as of November 4, 2026, so watch for a seasonal markdown.
Where is the PawHut Outdoor 2-Story Weatherproof Feral Cat Shelter with Asphalt Roof cheapest?
At Target, for $75.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the PawHut Outdoor 2-Story Weatherproof Feral Cat Shelter with Asphalt Roof?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Target, eBay.
