Is the Pimax Portal worth $399?

It makes sense if you want one device for Android handheld gaming and light VR. At $399 at the Pimax store as of November 8, 2026, it is at full price, so buy for the features, not the deal.

Does it come with the VR headset?

This listing is the All-In-One console with the View VR headset included. Check the bundle contents at checkout, since Pimax has sold console-only versions.

How does it compare with a Steam Deck or ROG Ally?

Those run PC games; the Portal runs Android games and streaming apps on a Snapdragon XR2. The Portal adds VR through the View headset, which the PC handhelds do not offer.

How long does the battery last?

Pimax does not publish a firm runtime, and the battery is not removable. Expect shorter sessions in VR or with the screen at full brightness, so plan on charging between sessions.

Can I use my own controllers?

Yes. It supports third-party controllers over Bluetooth, and the included magnetic controllers detach for two-handed play.

The best new price is $399 at the Pimax store as of November 8, 2026, with only two stores listing it new. Watch for direct-from-Pimax sales, which have been the usual source of discounts.
