Our take on the Presto 02811 Stainless Steel 12-Cup Coffee Percolator

The Presto 02811 is a 12-cup electric percolator in polished stainless steel that brews about a cup a minute and holds the coffee at serving temperature automatically. It is a classic, simple machine: one brew setting, a signal light, and a stainless steel basket and stem instead of paper filters. At $75.26 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, it sits near the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.

Best forLarge households brewing a full potPeople who like the stronger, hotter coffee a percolator makesEntertaining and keeping coffee warm for hoursBuyers who want no paper filters
Pros
  • Brews roughly a cup a minute, so a full 12 cups takes about 12 minutes
  • Automatic keep-warm holds coffee at serving temperature without a hot plate switch
  • All-stainless body, basket and stem; no paper filters to buy
  • Simple button operation with a signal light
  • 2- to 12-cup range suits a small batch or a full pot
Cons
  • Not dishwasher safe; the pot and parts need hand washing
  • Percolating recirculates coffee, which some drinkers find harsher than drip
  • No timer, strength setting or programmable start
  • Stainless exterior shows fingerprints and water spots
  • Full-pot coffee can get strong and stewed if it sits on keep-warm for long

Questions and answers

Is percolated coffee different from drip?
Yes. A percolator cycles hot water through the grounds repeatedly, which makes a stronger, hotter cup that some find harsher than drip. Use a coarse grind and pull the basket promptly after brewing for a cleaner taste.
Can I brew fewer than 12 cups?
Yes. It handles 2 to 12 cups; just fill to the mark for the amount you want and use proportionally less coffee.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No. Presto lists it as not dishwasher safe, so wash the pot, basket and stem by hand.
Does it use paper filters?
No. It has a stainless steel filter basket, so there are no filters to buy.
Is $75.26 a good price?
That Amazon price as of November 6, 2026 is near the top of its recent range across 9 stores. Waiting for a dip below $70 is reasonable if you are not in a hurry.
How long does a full pot take?
About 12 minutes for 12 cups, at roughly a cup a minute.
