Is the Real Flame Sonia worth it?

If you want a wide, ventless focal point and light supplemental heat, it is a solid pick. If you need serious heating, a 5,000 BTU unit will not carry a large room on its own.

How much heat does it actually put out?

It is rated at 5,000 BTUs, which is supplemental heat for a room rather than a primary source. Expect it to take the chill off, not replace your furnace.

Can I use the flames without heat?

Yes. The flame effect runs independently of the heater, so you can use it for ambiance in warmer months.

Does it need venting or a gas line?

No. It is ventless and runs on standard electric power, so it needs only a nearby outlet.

How big is it and how much does it weigh?

It measures 69 inches long, 15.75 inches wide and 40.25 inches high, and weighs 142 lbs assembled. Plan for two people to move it.

When is the best time to buy?

The best new price is $1,192.81 at Target as of November 4, 2026, across 7 stores. Electric fireplaces often dip during spring and summer clearance, so compare store prices before fall.
