Questions and answers

Is the Magma 15 warm enough for freezing nights?

ISO testing rates it comfortable to 21°F and survivable to 9°F. Most sleepers are fine into the low 20s with a pad and base layer; below that, add a liner or wear more layers.

How does it compare with the REI Magma 30?

The Magma 30 is lighter and suited to summer and mild shoulder seasons. The 15 adds roughly half a pound but extends comfortable use into freezing nights.

What size sleeper does the short fit?

The short fits people up to 65 inches with a 61.5-inch shoulder girth and 53-inch hip girth. Taller sleepers should look at the regular or long sizes.

Is the down treated for wet weather?

Yes. The down is water-resistant and the recycled ripstop shell has a DWR finish, so light condensation and damp tents are less of a problem.

What comes with the bag?

It ships with a stuff sack and a larger storage sack for loft retention. A sleeping pad is not included.

When is the best time to buy it?

REI discounts sleeping bags most during its member sales and end-of-season clearance in late summer and fall. The current $278.93 at REI as of November 4, 2026, is already near the low end of its range.

Where is the REI Co-op Magma 15 Sleeping Bag Purple Short cheapest?
