Questions and answers

Is the Magma 30 warm enough for freezing nights?

Its ISO comfort rating is 34°F and its lower limit is 24°F, so it suits three-season use down to about freezing with a warm pad and base layers. Cold sleepers should size up to the Magma 15 for winter.

How does it compare with the REI Co-op Magma 15?

The Magma 15 carries more down and is rated for colder nights but weighs more and costs more. The 30 is the better pick for summer and mild shoulder seasons.

What does the long-wide size change?

It adds length and shoulder girth for taller or broader sleepers, at the cost of a little extra weight and packed size. The regular fits most sleepers up to about 6 feet.

Is the down treated for wet weather?

Yes, the down is water-resistant, which helps it keep loft in damp conditions. It is not waterproof, so pair it with a dry sack or pack liner.

When is the best time to buy it?

REI Co-op brand gear usually drops during member sales and end-of-season clearance. At $250.93 as of November 5, 2026, it is near its recent high, so a sale is worth waiting for.
