Questions and answers

Is the RD-2000 EX worth it over the original RD-2000?: The EX keeps the same PHA-50 action and stage build with updated sound engines and controls. If you already own the original, the upgrade matters mainly for the newer engine and organ features; first-time buyers get the full package either way.
Does it have built-in speakers?: No. It is a stage piano, so you need an amp, PA or headphones to hear it.
How heavy is it?: It is a full 88-key metal-bodied stage piano, so plan on two people or a case with wheels for regular transport.
Can I use it as a MIDI controller?: Yes. It has MIDI and USB connectivity and works as a controller for software instruments as well as a standalone piano.
When is it cheapest?: Its best new price was $2,899.99 at Adorama as of November 7, 2026. Stage pianos in this class tend to dip during holiday sales and when a successor is announced.
Where is the Roland RD-2000 EX 88-key Digital Piano cheapest?: At Adorama, for $2,899.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Roland RD-2000 EX 88-key Digital Piano?: 3 stores we checked sell it, including Adorama, Guitar Center, Musician's Friend.
