Is this rug suitable for outdoors?

No. It is listed for indoor use only, and sisal and cotton blends do not hold up to rain or sun.

It is 2'6" wide by 6' long, a runner shape, and 0.31 inches thick.

Does it need a rug pad?

A pad is recommended. The flat weave has little cushion and a pad keeps it from sliding on hard floors.

Vacuum regularly and blot spills right away with a mild cleaner. It is not machine washable.
