Is Kerdi-Band worth it over generic seam tape?

If you are already using Kerdi or Ditra, yes. Schluter specifies Kerdi-Band for its warranty, and generic mesh tape is not a waterproofing layer.

How much area does one roll cover?

The roll is 16 ft 5 in long and 5 in wide. That handles the seams and corners of a typical tub surround or a small shower; larger showers usually need two rolls.

What adhesive do I use with it?

Unmodified thinset, mixed to a smooth consistency. Embed the fleece fully with a trowel or float; do not use mastic or premixed adhesive.

Can I use it with Ditra on a floor?

Yes. Kerdi-Band is made for sealing Ditra seams and the floor-to-wall joint where Ditra meets Kerdi-Board or Kerdi membrane.

Is it the same as Kerdi-Fix?

No. Kerdi-Band is a thinset-applied fleece strip; Kerdi-Fix is a sealant for penetrations, drains and pipe collars.

When is the price lowest?

It is $19.97 at The Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, near the low end of its recent range. Project-season sales are the usual time for a dip.

Our take on the Schluter Kerdi-Band Waterproofing Tape

Kerdi-Band is a 5-inch-wide, 4-mil polyethylene waterproofing strip with fleece webbing on both faces. It bonds to Kerdi, Kerdi-Board and Ditra with unmodified thinset to seal seams, corners and floor-to-wall joints in a bonded waterproofing assembly. The 16 ft 5 in roll covers a typical tub or shower surround's seams and inside corners. At $19.97 at The Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range.
