Our take on the Shaw Anvil Plus 6mil Beach Oak Luxury Vinyl Plank

Shaw Anvil Plus Beach Oak is a rigid-core (SPC) luxury vinyl plank in a 7-inch by 48-inch format with a 20 mil wear layer and ArmourBead finish. It is waterproof, dent resistant and rated for on, above and below grade, so it works in kitchens, basements and other damp or busy rooms. Planks float with a micro-bevel edge and carry a natural oak look in a traditional style. The best new price is $102.32 at The Flooring Advisor as of November 4, 2026, and only two stores list it new, so comparison shopping is limited.

Questions and answers

Is the Shaw Anvil Plus Beach Oak plank worth it?
At $102.32 per 27.73 sq ft carton at The Flooring Advisor as of November 4, 2026, it is a mid-range SPC plank with a thick 20 mil wear layer. That is a fair price for a waterproof, DIY-friendly floor, but check coverage math before ordering.
How many cartons do I need?
Each carton covers 27.73 sq ft. Measure the room, add 5 to 10 percent for cuts and waste, then round up to whole cartons.
Can it go in a basement or bathroom?
Shaw rates it for on, above and below grade, and the SPC core is waterproof. It suits kitchens and basements; in full baths, follow Shaw's guidance on sealing edges and leaving expansion gaps.
Does it need underlayment?
It floats over most flat, sound subfloors. A thin underlayment can soften the hard SPC feel and reduce sound, but check Shaw's warranty terms before adding one.
How does it compare with glue-down vinyl?
Float installation is faster and friendlier for DIY, and the 20 mil wear layer is thicker than many glue-down products. Glue-down can feel more solid underfoot but is harder to remove later.
When is it cheapest?
Only two stores list it new, so watch both for sales. Flooring tends to discount around seasonal promotions; the current best is $102.32 at The Flooring Advisor as of November 4, 2026.
Where is the Shaw Anvil Plus 6mil Beach Oak Luxury Vinyl Plank cheapest?
