Is the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 worth it used?

Yes, if you shoot a Canon APS-C DSLR and want a fast standard zoom. At around $430-$479 used it undercuts most f/2.8 zooms while being a full stop faster.

Does it work on full-frame cameras?

It is a DC lens built for APS-C, so it vignettes heavily on full frame. Use it on crop bodies, or on full frame only in crop mode.

How does it compare with a 24-70mm f/2.8?

It is faster at f/1.8 and sharper wide open, but the range is much shorter and it only covers APS-C. A 24-70mm f/2.8 gives more reach on full frame.

Is the autofocus fast enough for sports?

It is fine for portraits, events and video, but not ideal for fast action. The HSM motor is accurate but slower than newer mirrorless lenses.

A used copy typically includes the lens, front and rear caps, and a hood if the seller lists it. Check the listing for the hood and case, since accessories vary.

Used prices sit around $430-$479. Deals show up when a new Art lens launches or when DSLR owners move to mirrorless and sell off gear.

Our take on the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art is the first constant f/1.8 zoom made for APS-C DSLRs. On Canon bodies it covers a 27-52.5mm equivalent range, which makes it a fast standard zoom for crop-sensor shooters. It is heavy and built like a tank, with a 72mm filter thread and a hypersonic motor for autofocus. Used copies trade around $430-$479, a fraction of what a fast f/2.8 zoom costs new.
