Questions and answers

Is the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 worth it for astrophotography?
Yes. The f/1.8 aperture gathers far more light than typical f/2.8 ultra-wides, and it controls coma well, so stars stay round near the corners. Stopping down to about f/2.2 to f/2.8 sharpens the edges further.
Does it work on mirrorless cameras?
It is made for Canon EF and Nikon F DSLR mounts. Sony E and other mirrorless bodies need a mount adapter, and autofocus performance depends on the adapter.
Can I use front filters on this lens?
Not standard screw-in filters, because of the bulging front element. You need a third-party add-on holder system, or you can use gel filters in the rear filter mount.
How does it compare with the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 Art?
The 14mm f/1.8 is a stop faster and better suited to night skies. The 14-24mm zoom is more versatile for daytime work but slower and also large.
Is it weather sealed?
Yes. Sigma lists it as dustproof and splashproof, with a built-in hood. It is not waterproof, so use care in heavy rain.
When is the price lowest?
The best new price is $1,199.00 at Kenmore Camera as of November 4, 2026. Sigma Art lenses often drop during holiday and rebate periods, so watch for seasonal sales.
Where is the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens cheapest?
At Kenmore Camera, for $1,199.00, as of our latest check.
