Our take on the Sony BRAVIA Theater Rear 9 Speakers SA-RS9

The SA-RS9 is Sony's add-on pair of wireless rear speakers for its BRAVIA Theater soundbars, sold as a set of two. Each speaker carries up to 180 W and supports Dolby Atmos, so they add true rear height and surround channels rather than just filling in the back. They connect wirelessly over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and are shaped for wall mounting, at about 11.3 inches tall and 6 inches deep. At $548 at Abt Electronics & Appliances as of November 3, 2026, the set sits at the top of its recent price range across 13 stores.

Questions and answers

Is the SA-RS9 worth it over the soundbar alone?
If you watch a lot of Atmos movies or games, the rear pair adds real channels behind you that a soundbar alone cannot produce. For casual TV watching, the gain is smaller for $548.
Which Sony soundbars work with these speakers?
They are made for Sony's BRAVIA Theater soundbar line that supports wireless rear speakers. Check your soundbar model's accessory list before buying, since older Sony bars may not pair.
Do the rear speakers need wires?
Audio is wireless over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but each speaker still needs its own power outlet. Plan wall positions near outlets.
Can I wall mount them?
Yes. The cabinet is designed for wall mounting and measures about 11.3 inches tall, 6.1 inches wide and 6.1 inches deep.
When is the best time to buy?
The set was $548 at Abt Electronics & Appliances as of November 3, 2026, near the top of its recent range. Sony audio accessories tend to drop during holiday sales, so waiting for a promotion can pay off.
Where is the Sony BRAVIA Theater Rear 9 Speakers SA-RS9 cheapest?
At Abt Electronics & Appliances, for $548.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Sony BRAVIA Theater Rear 9 Speakers SA-RS9?
