Is the Sony K-55XR50 worth it at $1,198?

At $1,198 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, it is a fair price for a 55-inch Sony Mini-LED with local dimming. Only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper new option to compare against right now.

Is Mini-LED better than OLED on this TV?

Mini-LED gives higher brightness and no risk of burn-in, which suits bright rooms and sports. OLED still wins on black levels and viewing angles, so pick OLED if you watch off-angle in a dark room.

Does it work well with a PS5?

Yes. It supports 4K at 120Hz and Sony's auto HDR tone mapping with a PS5, plus variable refresh rate for smoother motion in games.

What size is the screen and what is in the box?

It is a 55-inch 4K panel. The box includes the TV, stand legs, remote and power cable; a wall mount is sold separately.

When is this TV likely to be cheapest?

Sony TVs typically drop during Black Friday and end-of-year sales. With one new listing at $1,198, watch for a first discount around those events.

Our take on the Sony K-55XR50 55" 4K UHD

The Sony K-55XR50 is a 55-inch 4K TV from Sony's 2025 BRAVIA line, using a Mini-LED backlight with full-array local dimming and Google TV. It targets people who want strong contrast and Sony's processing without stepping up to the brighter, pricier Bravia 9. Its best new price is $1,198 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, with only one store listing it new, so comparison shopping is limited.
