The PS5 Slim is Sony's smaller, lighter revision of the PlayStation 5, with a 1TB SSD and a built-in Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. It runs the same 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU, RDNA 2 graphics and 16GB GDDR6 memory as the original, so games look and play the same. The disc drive is now a detachable module, and the console is about 30% smaller by volume. Its best new price is $660.64 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026, which is high for this console and well above its typical sale prices.

Owners generally rate the PS5 Slim as the version to buy if you want discs, praising the smaller size, the 1TB drive and the quiet running. Complaints center on the flimsy-feeling stand, the disc drive's noise and the fact that it is a mild refresh rather than a power upgrade.
