Is the Suncast Powerwind worth it?

If bending to crank a hose is a problem, the foot-pedal rewind is the main draw and few reels offer it. If you just need storage, a manual reel costs far less.

How does the auto rewind work?

A battery-powered motor retracts the hose when you press the foot pedal. Keep fresh batteries in it, since a weak battery makes the rewind slow or stall.

What hose does it take?

Standard vinyl hose up to 100 ft, with a maximum operating pressure of 150 psi. Heavy or high-pressure hoses are not recommended.

Does it come assembled?

Yes, no assembly is required. It ships with a leader hose and two stakes to anchor it to the ground.

Can I move it around the yard?

It is freestanding but stationary at 31 lb. Plan a fixed spot near the spigot rather than carrying it between beds.

When is the price lowest?

Spring is peak hose-reel season, so late summer and fall clearance is when discounts tend to appear. The best new price was $224.99 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026.

Our take on the Suncast Powerwind Hose Reel

The Suncast Powerwind is a freestanding resin hose reel that rewinds a standard garden hose at the press of a foot pedal, powered by batteries. It holds up to 100 ft of hose, includes a leader hose, and adds a tilt-out bin for nozzles and fittings. It is a large, stationary unit at 31 lb and about 20 by 18 by 22 inches, so it needs a set spot near a spigot. The best new price is $224.99 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026, with 6 stores listing it new.
