Is this printer worth it?

It is worth it if you mainly print short black-and-white documents, labels or photos from a phone and want no ink. For everyday office printing, a cheap inkjet is faster and cheaper per page.

Does it need special paper?

Yes. It only prints on direct thermal paper, in widths from 2 inches to US Letter/A4. Regular paper will not work, and the prints fade over time.

Can I print from an iPhone or Android phone?

Yes, over Bluetooth, but you must install the BAOKALER app first. USB is also available for a computer connection.

How fast does it print?

The rated speed is 20 mm/s, which is slow. A full Letter page takes several minutes.

What comes in the box?

The printer, a USB cable, one set of thermal paper and an instruction manual.

At $49.95 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no lower recent price to wait for. Watch for coupon codes on that listing.

Our take on the Thermal Printer

The BAOKALER Thermal Printer is a small black-and-white direct-thermal printer that connects over Bluetooth or USB and prints on thermal paper from 2 inches up to US Letter/A4 width. It weighs about 1.17 lbs and is built for portability rather than speed: the rated 20 mm/s print speed is slow, and it needs the vendor's app before it will print from a phone. At $49.95 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.
