Our take on the Timhaka 2-Story Outdoor Cat House, Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Escape Door, Pull-Out Bottom & Scratching Mat, Black

The Timhaka is a two-story wooden outdoor cat shelter with a black and earthy yellow farmhouse finish. It has two doors, including an escape door, two perches, and a pull-out bottom tray for cleaning. The frame is cedar, it holds up to 150 lb, and it is meant for one or two small cats. At $65.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Pros
  • Two levels with two perches give cats vertical space
  • Escape door gives a shy cat a second way out
  • Pull-out bottom makes bedding changes and cleaning easier
  • Cedar frame resists weather better than softwood
  • Raised floor and roof keep cats off cold, wet ground
Cons
  • Assembly required, and the 24 lb box is awkward to handle alone
  • Small footprint suits small cats, not large breeds
  • Cedar scent can bother some cats at first
  • No insulation, so add straw bedding in hard freezes
  • Only 15 ratings, so the 4.5 score rests on thin data

Questions and answers

Is the Timhaka cat house worth it at $65.99?
At $65.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is a low price for a two-story cedar shelter. If you need winter shelter for one or two outdoor cats, it covers the basics without a heated pad.
How big is it, and will a large cat fit?
It is listed as regular size for small pets, with a 150 lb max load for the structure, not the cat. Large breeds like Maine Coons will find the compartments tight.
Does it need assembly?
Yes. It ships as a set and must be put together. The finished unit weighs about 24 lb, so two people make it easier.
How do I clean it?
The bottom pulls out, so you can slide out the floor to swap bedding and wipe it down. Cedar bedding or straw works well inside.
Is it warm enough for winter?
The wood blocks wind and rain, but there is no insulation. Pack the lower level with straw and face the doors away from prevailing wind.
What is in the box?
The wooden panels, roof, two perches, the escape door, the pull-out tray and a scratching mat, plus the hardware for assembly.
Where is the Timhaka 2-Story Outdoor Cat House, Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Escape Door, Pull-Out Bottom & Scratching Mat, Black cheapest?
At Walmart, for $65.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Timhaka 2-Story Outdoor Cat House, Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Escape Door, Pull-Out Bottom & Scratching Mat, Black?
