Questions and answers

Is the Storm 2890 worth it over a smaller single-stage blower?
Yes if you get regular snow over 6 inches or have a long driveway. A single-stage unit is lighter and cheaper but struggles with wet, deep snow and gravel. The 2890's two-stage setup and 28-inch width are built for that job.
How does it compare with the Storm 2660 or other Troy-Bilt two-stage models?
The 2890 gives you a wider 28-inch cut and a 272cc engine; smaller Storm models clear narrower paths with less power. Go wider only if your driveway is large, since the extra width adds weight.
Does it have electric start, and does it need a battery?
It has electric start that runs off a standard household outlet via a cord, so no onboard battery to maintain. The pull cord remains as a backup.
What snow depth can it handle?
Troy-Bilt rates it for up to 12 inches of snow, with a 20-inch intake height. Deeper drifts can be taken in stages.
What comes in the box?
The blower ships with a clearing tool for the chute. You supply engine oil and gasoline, and an extension cord for electric start.
When is it cheapest?
Snow blowers usually discount in late winter and early spring, and again in pre-season sales. The best new price was $1,150 at Jo's Equipment as of November 3, 2026; check the price history before buying.
Where is the Troy-Bilt Storm 2890 28 in. 272cc Two-Stage Gas Snow Blower cheapest?
