Our take on the Typhon Terror XX Mini Excavator

The Typhon Terror XX is a 4,000 lb mini excavator built around a Kubota D902 diesel engine, an EPA-certified three-cylinder that is the standard powerplant in this size class. It is aimed at operators of any skill level, from homeowners with acreage to small contractors. The best new price is $10,449.05 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new. That is a typical figure for an imported 4,000 lb diesel machine, so the price is neither a bargain nor out of line.

Best forSmall contractors and landscapersHomeowners with acreage and drainage or trenching workRental fleets needing a compact diesel machineOperators new to excavators
Pros
  • Kubota D902 diesel is a proven, widely serviced engine
  • 4,000 lb class is light enough for a 3/4-ton or 1-ton tow setup with the right trailer
  • EPA-certified engine and emissions paperwork
  • Suits varied skill levels, so beginners can learn on it
  • Stainless steel and plastic body panels resist rust and dents
Cons
  • Not an indoor machine despite the indoor use case claim; diesel exhaust needs ventilation
  • 4,000 lb is too heavy for many half-ton pickups
  • Dealer and parts network for the Typhon brand is thin compared with Bobcat or Kubota
  • Little independent test data on hydraulics, cycle times and dig depth
  • Only 11 ratings, so the 5-star score is not a reliable signal

Questions and answers

Is the Typhon Terror XX worth $10,449?
At $10,449.05 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, you are paying roughly the going rate for a 4,000 lb imported diesel mini excavator. It makes sense if you have steady digging work and can handle your own maintenance. If you need dealer service, a used Kubota or Bobcat at a similar price is the safer buy.
Can I really use it indoors?
No. The Kubota D902 is a diesel engine, and running it in an enclosed space produces carbon monoxide and soot. Use it outdoors or in a space with forced ventilation and a CO monitor.
How does it compare with a Kubota or Bobcat mini excavator?
It uses the same Kubota D902 engine found in many name-brand 1- to 2-ton machines, so the powerplant is familiar. The difference is the rest of the machine: hydraulics, warranty and dealer support. Kubota and Bobcat cost more but have nationwide parts and service.
What can I tow it with?
At 4,000 lb bare, plus a trailer, you are near or over the tow rating of most half-ton pickups. Plan on a three-quarter-ton or larger truck with trailer brakes.
What comes in the box?
Expect the excavator itself with the standard bucket and a set of keys. Attachments, a trailer and a spare bucket are usually sold separately, so confirm the bucket width and any extra attachments with the seller before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Prices on imported excavators move with shipping and container costs, and listings on eBay fluctuate. The $10,449.05 figure at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is the current low; watch for end-of-season and auction-style listings.
Where is the Typhon Terror XX Mini Excavator cheapest?
At eBay, for $10,449.05, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Typhon Terror XX Mini Excavator?
Rated 5 out of 5 from 11 ratings.
Where can I buy the Typhon Terror XX Mini Excavator?
4 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, newexcavatorforsale.com, Typhon Machinery, Walmart.
