Is MERV 13 too restrictive for my furnace?

Most modern residential blowers handle MERV 13, but older or undersized systems can lose airflow. Check your system's filter spec or ask an HVAC tech before switching from MERV 8.

How often should I change it?

Every 2 to 3 months is typical, and sooner in dusty homes, during wildfire smoke, or with pets. A 4-pack covers about a year at the 3-month interval.

Does 24x30x2 mean the exact size?

No. Nominal 24x30x2 filters usually measure about 23.5 x 29.5 x 1.75 inches. Measure your filter slot before ordering.

What does MERV 13 actually capture?

It is rated for particles in the 0.3 to 1.0 micron range, which includes mold spores, smoke particles, and many bacteria and viruses.

Is $96.50 for four a good price?

That works out to about $24 per filter, in line with other MERV 13 pleats in this size. With only one store listing it new, there is no cheaper alternative to compare against.

Can I wash and reuse it?

No. It is a disposable pleated filter; washing damages the media and voids filtration performance.

The UltraPURE Plus is a MERV 13 pleated HVAC filter in the 24x30x2 nominal size, sold here as a 4-pack. Its synthetic media targets particles in the 0.3 to 1.0 micron range, including mold spores, smoke, and bacteria, while the maker claims it keeps airflow high enough not to strain equipment. The best new price is $96.50 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, about $24 per filter, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
