Is MERV 13 too restrictive for a home HVAC system?

MERV 13 is a high rating and restricts airflow more than MERV 8. Most modern systems handle it, but older or undersized blowers may lose airflow. Check your system's filter rating before switching.

Does the carbon layer really remove odors?

The activated carbon panel adsorbs odors and VOCs as air passes through. Owners report less cooking and pet smell, though the effect fades as the filter loads up.

Will a 24x30x2 filter fit my return grille?

Nominal 24x30x2 filters often measure slightly smaller in actual size. Measure your old filter or the slot and compare it to Nordic Pure's actual dimensions before ordering.

How often should I change it?

Nordic Pure recommends every 30 to 90 days. Homes with pets, heavy dust or high pollen may need the shorter end of that range.

Is this a good price for a 3-pack?

At $99.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, it works out to about $33 per filter. Compare that against single MERV 13 carbon filters, which often run $20 to $35 each.

About the Nordic Pure 24x30x2 Pleated Air Filters MERV 13 Plus Carbon 3 Pack

Nordic Pure MERV 13 Plus Carbon air filters are made of electrostatically charged synthetic materials with an added flat panel infused with activated charcoal that attracts and capture most airborne particulates in your home. It will help eliminate unwanted odors as well as trap most airborne dust and particulate matter for fresh, clean air. Odorous gases and vapors (VOC) are attracted to and held by the activated carbon material while maintaining excellent air flow properties. All Nordic Pure pleated air filters are manufactured using a heavy duty, moisture resistant beverage board frame. There is a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats for extra support. Our air filters use permanently electrostatically charged material that acts like a magnet to help dust cling to the air filter. MERV 13 Plus Carbon air filters are comparable to air filters with the rating of MPR 2200-2400. We recommend that you change your air filter every 30-90 days to maintain maximum efficiency and economy. Important Note: Almost ALL furnace filters have a different "actual size" than the nominal size printed on the air conditioner filter. It's best if you measure your air filter for the EXACT size and compare it to our "Actual Size" - and then you can be sure your A/C air filter fits!
