Is the A2500 worth it over the Vitamix 5200?

The A2500 adds preset programs, self-detect containers and app pairing over the 5200's manual-only controls. If you just want raw blending power, the 5200 is cheaper; if you want one-touch smoothies and soup, the A2500 is the better fit.

How is it different from the A3500?

The A3500 has a touchscreen, five program settings and a metal-finish base. The A2500 has a dial, three presets and a plastic base, but the same 64-oz container system and motor class.

What comes in the box?

The blender base, a 64-oz low-profile container with lid, and a tamper. The tamper is needed for thick mixes like nut butter.

Can it make hot soup?

Yes. The hot soup program runs long enough at high friction speed to heat soup in the container, though the result is more blended than chunky.

Is the container dishwasher safe?

The container, lid and tamper are top-rack dishwasher safe. The base should only be wiped down.

When is the A2500 cheapest?

Vitamix discounts the Ascent line around Black Friday and during refurbished sales. The $349 at eBay as of November 5, 2026 is already near the low end of its recent range.

Our take on the Vitamix Ascent Series A2500 Blender

The Vitamix Ascent A2500 is a full-size countertop blender with a 64-oz container, three program settings (smoothie, hot soup, frozen dessert) and a variable speed dial. It is part of Vitamix's Ascent line, so it uses self-detect containers and can pair with the Vitamix Perfect Blend app over Bluetooth. Its best new price is $349 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, which sits at the low end of what this model has sold for recently.
