Our take on the Winston Porter Edge XL800 Leather Power Reclining Home Theater Seating with Cup Holder

The Winston Porter Edge XL800 is a three-seat leather power reclining home theater sofa, 103 inches long, with pillow-top arms and built-in cup holders. It is aimed at buyers who want a full row of powered recliners in one piece rather than separate chairs. The leather cover and power recline put it in the mid-to-upper tier for home theater seating, and a 103-inch footprint needs a wide wall. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is the Edge XL800 worth it over three separate recliners?
It depends on your room. A single 103-inch row looks cleaner and keeps cup holders aligned, but three separate chairs are easier to move, replace and fit through doors. If your wall is wide enough, the one-piece row is the simpler buy.
Does it need to sit away from the wall?
Power recliners usually need several inches of clearance behind the backrest to fully recline. Measure your wall distance before ordering, since the 103-inch length leaves little room for error.
Is the leather real or bonded?
The listing specifies leather. Confirm with the seller whether it is top-grain, split leather or a leather match with vinyl on the back and sides, since that changes how it wears.
How many outlets does it need?
Expect at least one outlet near the sofa for the power recline motors, and possibly a second depending on how the wiring is split. Plan for a cord cover or floor outlet in a finished room.
Will it fit through my door?
A 103-inch sofa will not go through a standard doorway in one piece. Check whether the back splits or the seats detach, and measure hallways and stair turns before delivery.
When is the best time to buy?
Home theater seating tends to discount around major holiday sales and during furniture clearance events. Track the price for a few weeks so you can tell a real markdown from a list price.
